The City Council did not hold a regular meeting in the month of September, due to the scheduling of the three-day Open Space Charrette. The summary of that workshop is as follows:
Open Space Charrette
September 10-12, 2015
The City of Waldport held a 3-day workshop on potential uses for the approximately 12-acre property bordered by Highway 34 and Crestline Drive, previously the site of the Waldport High School. Through an agreement with FEMA, the School District agreed to vacate the property and build a new facility out of the tsunami zone. FEMA requirements restrict the use of the property, and the School District and the City have been working to determine uses that would fit within the tenets of the agreement.
The workshop was comprised of several sessions throughout the three days, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10 at the "Shelter Me" building, 265 Bay Street, Waldport. The Thursday session ended at 5:00 p.m., and an evening session was held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Friday session began at 8:30 a.m. at the "Shelter Me" building, and ended at approximately 3:00 p.m. The Saturday session began at 8:30 a.m. at Waldport City Hall, 125 NW Alsea Highway, Waldport, and ended at about 1:30 p.m.
